🤦🏽‍♀️ Uhhhhhhh…huh??

You know what’s annoying? Trying to convince a client that what you’re saying about skincare as a licensed professional with many years experience, is correct and what a tik tok influencer with no license or formal skincare education or background or MD behind their name but has 2 million followers….is incorrect.

TikTok miseducation has become the bane of beauty industry professionals everywhere.

Yes Vitamin C is active and so is Vitamin A. But they are not performing the same type of activity. When I’m talking about Vitamin A, I’m referring to retinols and retinoids NOT tretinoin, which is pure retinoic acid (which, I do not recommend and if you are using it, it should be temporarily-that’s another discussion for another day.)

Vitamin C works to protect the skin, there is zero disruption to the skins barrier while using a topical Vitamin C and a retinol product. Retinols are designed specifically to be released slowly and gently into the skin so as not to disrupt the barrier function (this does not include OVER use of a retinoid, that’s also another discussion). The 2 ingredients do not cause problems with each other. In fact, many products on the market are formulated with both ingredients.

In my studio I talk about real skincare, not the latest skin-tok “facts”. I’m not saying everything a tik tok influencer says is incorrect. But followers does now equate to actual knowledge. And they are speaking from their experience or are PAIDDDDDDDDDD which makes them partial to whatever it is they’re popping off on that day. I LOVVVVVEEEEEE correcting pigment! Like totally obsessed with pigment correction. It is my single most favorite thing to correct in my clients. And it’s so simple, follow the plan➡️ see the results!

We started working together in December. At first we had a little barrier repair to do which we did with the Circadia Oxygen facial, monitoring her chemical exfoliant useage and changing her moisturizer. Once her barrier was intact we started with Five Berry peels and worked up to TCA peels which target hyperpigmentation. We are not finished but we have made major progress and I’m so happy for her!! Trust the process✨
